The apparel industry is surprising to some a massive contributor to global climate change. Why? The fashion industry consumes masses amounts of energy to produce its products. Sitting around 10% of all global emissions, the resources required to make things like t-shirts, shoes, and coats, are driving by the industry's advertising and influencer marketing and the global need for the millions of fashion items purchased every year. Experts believe this will get worse by 2030, with an increase in CO2 emissions, from 2.1 billion tonnes to 2.7 billion tonnes a year. To put the global apparel's poor CO2 emissions amount into perspective, that's more emissions than three countries combined totals, France, Germany, and the UK.
